Open Meeting: The Royal Maundy Ceremony

Our next Open Meeting will be on the Wednesday before Easter week, and it will be devoted to an old (but really: old) English Easter tradition: The Royal Maundy Ceremony

Now, Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter, and very probably that isn’t news for you, but: What is the „Royal Maundy Ceremony“? And what has the age of Queen Elizabeth II to do with it?
Ok, the ceremony dates back to about 1200 (some even say: to 600), and it involves the giving of coins, very special coins…
