26. Elbhangfest – “Come together”

As most of you already know this year’s Elbhangfest (http://www.elbhangfest.de/) will focus on all things British – and so of course, we made sure that the DBG Dresden will be part of the festivities in a big way!
(See below for how you can still become involved yourself!)

Here is what we will have in store for you:

/// On Friday, 24 June 2016, @ 18 hrs we will be starting our Elbhangfest activities with a talk organised by the Geschichtsverein Dresden e.V. on “Love Story Dresden – Die erstaunliche Geschichte der Briten an der Elbe” (in German) at Ortsamt Loschwitz: LINK

/// Saturday, 25 June 2016, will see us setting up stall at “Stonehenge” from 14:00 hrs (between Maria-am-Wasser Church in Hosterwitz and the Elbe) – come along and join us for some Cream Tea, our “Best Off” Pub Quiz, some fun English language courses with the Fremdsprachenakademie Dresden, or come and talk to Michael Halstead, Director of Eclectic Theatre Dresden, about the outcome of Britain’s EU referendum. Our partner Whisky & Genuss will be offering whisky cocktails and Pimm’s, and there will be a whisky tasting in the evening with music by the 4 Paddys. Details can be found here.

/// On Sunday afternoon, 26 June 2016, at 14:00 hrs, our board member Rainer will round off our contributions to the festive weekend as Lord Findlater himself, when he goes on a walk & wine tasting (Schlenderweinprobe mit Lord Findlater) with Winzer Müller: LINK

/// Over the entire weekend also make sure you catch the “Great Britain on the Elbe Slopes” poster exhibition, which we have co-organised together with the Elbhangfest e.V. and the Ortsvereins Loschwitz/Wachwitz. On the wall in front of the Loschwitzer Kirche you will find a range of posters on British traces in Dresden past and present: LINK

And here in addition is what some of our partners are planning:

/// The Coventry/Dresden Arts Exchange will open its latest exhibition with artists from both cities on Thu, 23 June 2016, at 19:30 hrs in the west-wing of the Orangerie in Pillnitz Schlosspark. There will also be an artists’ talk on Sun, 26 June 2016, at 17:00 hrs: LINK

/// Eclectic Theatre are putting on a performance of their latest play, “Ten Years, Two Queens and a Hero” on Sat, 25 June 2016, at 20:00 hrs at the east-wing of the Orangerie in Pillnitz Schlosspark: LINK

*** Helping hands wanted ***
We are still looking for DBG DD members who want to support us for 1-2 hours in setting up and staffing our stall during the afternoon/early evening on Sat, 25 June 2016. Should you be interested, please email info@dbg-dresden.org as soon as possible – Thank you!
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Elbhangfest 2016!
